Chenagaja is a dessert that is popular all over Orissa. Although the ingredients used for chenagaja are the same as that of chenna poda and rasgulla, they taste entirely different. Chenagaja is made with chenna and semolina (sooji). The dough is kneaded, and excess water is removed. When it reaches the right consistency, it is molded into cylindrical rectangular shapes and boiled in thick sugar syrup. Chenagajas are allowed to dry so that the bit of sugar may occasionally crystallize on the surface, giving it a little crispy.
